Ghana Football Association President(GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi has emphasized that he wields no power to appoint his successor should he exit his position.

There have been speculations that he is likely to name his heir after he is done with serving his mandate as the President of the football body, but he says that cannot be possible.

In an interview with Kasapa FM Sports Mr. Nyantakyi stated that  the president of the GFA can only go as far as proposing a candidate and not to impose anyone on the association.

“It’s not the GFA president who elects a successor, he can only recommend but  the congress (Clubs) have that mandate to elect someone to take over the GFA presidency.”

According to him, members of  CAF and FIFA respectively who are also part of the Executive Committee and Secretariat of the GFA are eligible to take over the presidency.
