The former Member of Parliament for Mfanteman constituency, Aquinas Tawiah Quansah has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party government of scheming to get the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Charlotte Osei impeached from office.

According to him, the NPP during the 2016 election chastised Charlotte Osei so believes they are the ones behind the EC staff who have petitioned the president, calling for her removal.

Speaking to Obaasima Serwaa Akoto on Yensempa on Agoo TV, Honourable Quansah questioned why the petitioners refused to sign the petition but their lawyer did.

“I don’t want to believe what is happening but I can clearly say this is a conspiracy to sack the EC boss. The staff were unable to sign the petition but rather allowed the lawyer to sign on their behalf ,” Aquinas said.

Meanwhile the MP of Asante Akyim North, Hon Andy Appiah Kubi admitted that it is a mistake on the part of the petitioners if they didn’t append their signatures and their lawyer, Maxwell Opoku-Agyemang should see to it that the right thing is done.

Some staff of the EC have petitioned President Akufu Addo to impeach Mrs Charlotte  Osei for indulging in conflict of interest.

The 27 numbered petition seeks to put the president to the know over the unconstitutional manner in which the EC Boss has acted.
