Director for National Sports Authority, Hon. Robert Sarfo Mensah has revealed that electricity Supply to the Accra Sports Stadium has been restored.

Electrical supply to the Stadium was cut on July 7 as a sequel of the NSA’s inability to clear its outstanding debt.

Speaking to Adam Adjei on Agoo TV, Hon. Sarfo Mensah revealed that GHS 800,000 was the initial amount given as debt to the NSA by the Electricity Company of Ghana. However, upon further scrutiny, some anomalies were discovered which slashed the amount to a little over GHS 600,000.

“Out of the GHS 600,000, a deposit of GHS 200,000 was made and following a policy by the Ministry Of Finance to pay all utility debts of Government bodies till 2013, the NSA’s outstanding debt is currently a little over GHS 100,000,” Hon. Robert Sarfo Mensah explained.

“We will exercise frugality in Power Expenditure and set our priorities right. Whatever interventions we get, we will be disciplined in giving a percentage of it to service utility bills. Also, whatever monies we accrue, a portion of it will be saved towards electricity payment,” Mensah added.

He divulged that a payment schedule has been drawn and will strictly be followed to forestall such consequences hereafter.

According to the NSA Director, electric power has been restored in all the stadia which had its power cut-off.
