The first live performance show for 12 finalists who made it into season 4 of the MTN Hitmaker music reality show, came off at the National Theatre on Wednesday.

Over the two and half hour program backed by the Patch Bay Band, the finalists tried to impress both judges and patrons.

From Hiphop to Highlife and other genres, they did cover versions of songs of Efya, Samini, Richie, VVIP, Wutah Afriyie, and that of Nigeria’s Patoranking, Wande Cole, Inyanya, Banky W and Omawomi.

And even though the finalists put up their best, the judges which include Akwasi Aboagye of Peace Fm , and musician Okyeame Kwame and Eazzy said they could have done better.

In 3 groups, and made up of 4 people each, they are headed by Richie of Lynx Entertainment, and sound engineers Magnom Beat and Kaywa.

In its fourth season, the show according to organizers, seeks to discover and nurture young and aspiring musicians. Some past winners including Koo Ntakra, and Torgbe have all gone on to launch mainstream careers.

Winner of season 4 gets a GHC 100,000 recording deal.

Hosts for this year’s show are actors Peace Hyde and Mawuli Gavor.
