Hundreds of prospective pilgrims embarking on this year’s Hajj are stranded in Tamale due to an emergency in the holiest city of Islam – Mecca.
About 500 pilgrims were expected to be airlifted from the Tamale International Airport Thursday evening however the flight was cancelled.
The situation has left the hopes of the travelers smashed, overrun and looted as they find themselves in a hard hitting quagmire at the Tamale International airport.
The carrier is yet to leave the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia leaving the pilgrims desperate and uncertain. Nearly, thousand scheduled to travel from Thursday and today [Friday] may still remain in Ghana.
It comes shortly after the vice president gave a cheery address to the pilgrims and praised his government for excellent organization of this year’s Muslim religious journey.
The Vice president also chastised the former administration for failing to airlift some 452 prospective pilgrims who paid full expenses last year for the Journey
“I can assure you that government would continue to facilitate the management of hajj for Muslims pilgrims at the ends devoid of the usual headline making inconveniences.”
