Telecommunications giants, MTN has called on its customers to be  the look out for mobile money fraudsters.

The company says it has put measures in place to ensure that her customers are not defrauded. This came to light during this year’s editors forum held for Journalists both the electronic and the print media in the Brong Ahafo region.

Stephen Asare, Channel Development and Mobile Money Manager, Northern Ghana noted that customers have a critical role to play to check fraudsters duping people using mobile money.

He revealed that the strategy adopted by these fraudsters is that they send message in the form of mobile money message and later call the people that they have mistakenly sent money to them so they should send the money back to them.

“Immediately you received such a message and call, go into your mobile money wallet to find out if the amount there has increased or it is the same before sending back the money,” Asare admonished.

Mr. Asare said MTN is working with the police to deal with the fraudsters tarnishing the image of the company.

Efua Falconer, MTN Corporate Communication Manager advised media houses and journalists to embrace digital technology in their work.

Efua Falconer noted that media houses who want to remain relevant in business should not see digital technology as an option but a requirement to sustain their business.

She assured that MTN would continue to improve on its infrastructure to provide quality service to its clients in the country.

Journalists were urged to nominate persons who are impacting positively in the society to participate in the “MTN Heroes of Change” programme.
