The former Chief Executive officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital(KATH), Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare has called on the ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC) government to tame its crop of communicators regarding their commentary over the prevailing industrial turmoil in the health sector.

Dr. Asare observed that what could have been a smooth and healthy process is partly being muddied with some irresponsible public discussions, especially from some government communicators which is ostensibly impeding progress.

He says such actions always fray tempers and impact negatively on the bid to get the standing issues in the health circles addressed, he told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM .

He’s therefore called the attention of government to restrain public commentaries by its communicators particularly on the impasse that has characterised the ongoing negotiation on doctors conditions of service.

” Government should be able to advise its communicators on how they run commentaries on the issues of the GMA and government on radio.

“They have limited knowledge on the issues evolving in the health sector; this is not a political matter but an issue of national interest, hence they must refrain from making certain comments.”

Meanwhile Dr. Asare has implored the Catholic Church of the Techiman Diocese to call back the house officers and Senior house officers who were on Monday released at the Church’s Holy Family Hospital at Techiman.

He maintained that this is clearly a high-handed decision from the Church, which he says, will deter doctors in accepting postings to the facility in future.

On Monday, the Diocese of Techiman of the Catholic Church announced the release of fourteen medical doctors made up of House and Senior Officers from their posts.

The doctors were on housemanship training at the Church’s Holy Family Hospital at Techiman.

According to the Church, the decision was taken after the medical officers served notice to management of the National Catholic Health Service of their unavailability for training and service as an expression of their solidarity with the current impasse between the GMA and government.
