Black Stars winger Frank Acheampong has urged the team to put their World Cup failure behind them and focus on the challenges ahead.

With only seven points, Ghana finished third behind Uganda and Group E winners Egypt in the African qualifiers to next year’s World Cup in Russia.

The African powerhouse thus missed out on a fourth successive outing after their debut in 2006.

Speaking to Kasapa FM, the China-based forward encouraged the team to not dwell on the disappointment but turn attention to the upcoming tasks.

“We could not qualify for the World Cup but life goes on.

“The task ahead is what we should turn our focus on and pray we can put the smiles back on the faces of Ghanaians.

“We should go all out, qualify for the next African Cup. If we are able to win it, things would change,” he said.

Frank Acheampong, who last played in the just ended World Cup qualifiers at Uganda, has signed a permanent contract with Chinese topflight side Tianjin Teda.
