Barima Ofori Ameyaw I, Dr. George Kweku Ofori, President of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) is attributing the influx of foreign retailers in the various Ghanaian markets to the relaxed attitude of past governments.

Accordingto him past governments slept on their duties by not applying the laws of the land making room for foreign retailers.

He said for some years now GUTA has been left alone to fight foreign traders with no government showing care or concern.

Speaking exclusively to Kasapa Fm’s Leticia Ohene-Asiedu on Business Digest, the GUTA President again attributed the worrying situation to the attitude of some Ghanaian landlords who drive Ghanaian traders out of their shops when a foreigner comes with a bigger amount to rent.

Barima Ofori Ameyaw I, said until the current government intervenes, the issue of unemployment will keep increasing since most of these Ghanaian traders kicked out of their shops, employ quite a number of  young graduates.
