The West African Examinations Council has withheld the results of a total of 1,873 private candidates who sat for the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to a statement issued by WAEC, the candidates reportedly engaged in various examination malpractices.
The Council has, however, released results of 117, 306 candidates who took the exams and assured to release the rest as soon as the council concludes investigations on the withheld results.
WAEC also cautioned the public on the activities of fraudsters who contact candidates with the promise of altering their results for a fee payable through mobile money transfer.
The council added that all forged results can be detected by the confirmation of the verification system.
