Below is the full statement:

KUMASI: FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2017:  As thousands gather at the Heroes Park of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, the capital of Ashanti Region, to celebrate this year’s Farmers’ Day, the President of Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Union, Madam Fatima Ali, Managing Director of Kuapa Kokoo Limited, Mr. Samuel Adimado and the Country Director of Millennium Promise Alliance (MPA), Chief Nat Ebo Nsarko, join hands with the rest of the country to commend all farmers, fishers and agricultural workers, for their hard work in feeding the nation.

Ghana’s success and economic growth over the years has largely hinged on the sweat of our gallant farmers, fishers and agricultural workers and on this special occasion – the National Farmers’ Day, it is worth celebrating them.

The typical traditional Ghanaian farmer has for years practiced subsistence farming where he or she produces food to feed himself or herself and the family and sells the little surplus to make just a little to supplement the family’s income.

Our farmers, have thus far, with very minimal technological support, preserved and maintained our farming culture and helped to grow our economy with very little recognition.

They have been protectors and defenders of the earth for productivity.

Their contribution in ending extreme hunger and all forms of malnutrition which forms part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) cannot be overemphasized.

The time to tell the story of the Ghanaian farmer is now!

Kuapa Kokoo and its partner, the Millennium Promise Alliance, congratulates you, our gallant farmers, fishers and agricultural workers, and wishes you a Happy Farmers’ Day.

Long live Ghana.

Long live our gallant farmers.

Long live Kuapa Kooko.

Signed:

Mr. Samuel Adimado
