Authorities at Kumasi Academy Senior High School (KUMACA) under the supervision of Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Alidu Seidu have begun decongestion exercise in the dormitories in the school.

Four students of KUMACA have died this month from what has been found to be Swine flu.

A Viral Fumigation and cleanup exercise has begun in the Kumasi Academy Senior High School (KUMACA).

There are seven dormitories in the Kumasi Academy Senior High School (KUMACA).

The Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Alidu Seidu tells Abusua fm’s Osei Kwadwo that since Influenza H1N1 2009 is airborne disease, it has become necessary for decongestion exercise in the dormitories.

According to him, government and Ghana Health Service are putting proper measures in place to find lasting solution to the problem.

“There is an ongoing dormitory project started by the PTA in the school, we are going to support them and finish that project so we can house some of the students there. There is also a library project which was started by former president J.A Kuffour, we will convert it to a dormitory temporally” he said.

He revealed that three students are currently on admission at Kumasi South government hospital; five students are on admission at KNUST hospital and two students on admission at KATH hospital.

Alidu Seidu stated that Ghana Health Service and authorities will consider fumigation exercise and administering of vaccines in some communities at Asokore Mampong Municipal such as Sepe, Sawaba.

He said the exercise is not confirmed yet but it’s within their thoughts.
