Ghana Health Service has begun vaccinating both teachers and students including caterers and security men at Kumasi Academy Senior High School (KUMACA) following the outbreak of H1N1 Type A Viral Influenza which has killed four students.
Some parents who have their wards in the school are also benefiting from the vaccination exercise.
Eighty (80) nurses were recruited by the Ghana Health Service to conduct the exercise.
The Ashanti Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang told Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo the vaccination exercise will help eradicate the virus from the students and those affected.
According to Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang the vaccination exercise will be extended to tomorrow December 22, 2017 because of the huge number of the students.
He therefore urged those who’ll benefit from the vaccination exercise to see their doctors if they feel symtoms of the disease within 28 days.
The excited students have commended Ghana Health Service for their effort to eradicate the virus from the school.
The Ghana Health Service has assured that all the students will be vaccinated before they leave the school for vacation tomorrow (Friday).
