The Ministry of Transport has finally has evicted squatters and residents at the Public Works Department (PWD) staff quarters in Accra to pave way for its ultra modern bus terminal.

The terminal, worth millions of Ghana Cedis, is expected to house all the transport services under the Ministry.

The Public Relations Officer for the Ministry, Gloria Holm-Graves, commenting in the eviction exercise which was carried out, Sunday, said the ministry acquired the four-acre land property from PWD and have sentitized both the residents and squatters about the demolition.

However, the residents and squatters are not happy with the way they’ve been treated.

They accused the PWD for breaching their tenancy agreement and failing to relocate them despite paying rent to them.

Work on the project when commenced is expected to be completed in twelve months.
