The Council of elders of the opposition NPP have asked its General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, and Chairman Paul Afoko to step aside “pending the conclusion of investigation into the murder of the Upper East Regional Chairman of the Party.”
A letter dated May 25, and signed by Clement Tedam, is asking the two to do the most honourable thing.
“The Council of Elders believes that on the basis of your commitment to the success of the party in the forthcoming national elections and of your sincerity in the promotion of the general welfare of the party and nation, you would respect both the spirit and letter of advice given.”
The NPP continues to fight an existing party crisis.
Series of meetings have been held nationwide by its regional executives to as it were begin an impeachment process of Agyepong, and Afoko, both some party faithfuls say are responsible for the deepening cracks ahead of the 2016 elections.
