The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in Tarkwa in the Western Region  is to be named after Alfred George Paa Grant, according to President Akufo Addo.

This came to light during the investiture of Former President John Agyekum Kufuor as the first chancellor of the Tarkwa based university.

According to President Akufo Addo preparation is underway to get parliamentary approval for the University to be called George Grant University of Mines and Technology.

 

Explaining the motive behind the move, President Akufo Addo said that Paa Grant’s vision years back fits into the current vision of the University.

The University is to be allotted a 5 million cedi annual budget to help the University to complete some key uncompleted projects secured under the Mahama administration.
