Parliament’s Adhoc Committee probing the infamous cash-for-seat saga will today, January 15, 2018 quiz officials of the Millennium Excellence Foundation, the entity responsible for organizing the Awards.

The organizers are billed to provide the  5-Member Committee chaired by Majority Chief Whip, Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh with further and better particulars in response to the accusations of alleged levies collected by the Ministry of Trade & Industry of the cedi equivalent of various sums up to US$100,000.00 extorted from expatriate businesses.

The sector Minister, Mr. Alan Kyerematen who appeared before the committee on Friday told the committee that the Ministry was not responsible for the program schedule and responsibilities of the event organizers.

 

The Trade & Industry Minister had appeared before the Adhoc committee as a witness in the alleged matter and related matters during the Ghana Expatriates Business Awards held in Accra.

On January 5, 2018, the Minority Chief Whip moved a motion at an emergency Parliamentary sitting calling on the House to investigate the alleged levies collected by the Ministry of Trade & Industry of the Ghana Cedi equivalent of various sums up to US$100,000.00 from expatriate businesses and related matters during the recently held Ghana Expatriates Business Awards in Accra.
