The Inspector General of Police(IGP) has indicated that the Police are yet to establish suspected links to any terrorists group, in relation to the three  individuals arrested in possession of grenades.

The suspects held by the Police and assisting in investigations were arrested on Monday with explosives believed to be grenades.

Addressing a Press Conference in the capital today, the IGP called for calm among Ghanaians as Police intensify investigations into the matter.

“Let me state that we believe the objects to be grenades of some kind, and investigation is underway to quickly establish the nature of the object seized. The seizure is as a result of the Police intelligence led operations and we are working  together with the relevant agencies to get to the bottom of this matter. Our investigations seeks to answer questions such as whether these persons are terrorists, whether they have linkage with terrorist group, how they obtained the objects, their sources, potential allies and many more. Scores of investigators and specialists are being dispatched to various locations and we are treating this  matter with all the seriousness it deserves”

Police at the Odorkor divisional command in Accra arrested some 3 individuals in possession of grenades.

One of the suspects is believed to be a member of the dreadful terrorist group ISIS, police sources revealed.

This comes on the back of warnings by some security experts that Ghana ought to be careful about a possible ISIS infiltration.
