The Accra Regional Police Command has served notice that they have commenced investigations into Sunday dawn’s invasion of the Dome-Kwabenya Police Station by some unknown armed robbers with the urgency that it deserves.

They have however, urged for calm, promising that they would do their best to bring the perpetrators to book.

Some unidentified armed robbers, Sunday dawn attacked the Dome-Kwabenya station in Accra and reportedly freed seven of their members who were in custody.

The dawn invasion saw the armed robbers shooting to dead a police commander.

The incident, according to top police sources, occurred at about 1 am.

The identity of the slain commander is immediately not known.

But the Accra Regional Police Command in a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, ASP Afia Tenge, said the men and women in black uniform are on a manhunt for the seven suspected robbers who escaped from the Dome-Kwabenya Police cells.

Those who facilitated their escape are also seriously being pursued by the Police, the statement added.

They however, went ahead to release the identities of the seven who escaped from police custody, pleading with the general public to assist them locate their whereabout.

They are:
1. Dick Ofori, Ghanaian, 24 years.

2. Chibuzer Akwabu, Nigerian, 34 years

3. Edem Rockson, Ghanaian, 32 years

4. Prince Osei, Ghanaian, 27 years

5. Emmanuel Kotey, Ghanaian, 21 years

6. Kofi Darko, Ghanaian, 21 years

7. Atta Kwadwo, Ghanaian, 20 years.
