Staff of the National Disaster Management Organisation(NADMO) in the Upper West Region have called off their strike after the suspension of the Regional Minister.

The workers declared the day old strike after the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) boys’ attack on the Regional office and its Director.

Some youth believed to be associated with the Wa East constituency branch of the governing New Patriotic Party,NPP on wednesday attacked the Regional NADMO boss.

The youth invaded the Regional office of NADMO making away with office equipment and some unspecified amount of cash on Wednesday evening.

However, NADMO staff who were reportedly angry over the attack on their office vowed that until some action is taken against the attackers who are youth of the governing NPP , they will not report for duty.

President Akufo-Addo thus suspended the Upper West Regional Minister, Alhaji Sulemana Alhassan from office on Thursday, pending the outcome of an investigations into the matter.

A statement from the Presidency and signed by the Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin indicated that the “Deputy Regional Minister, Mr Amidu Ishaq will act as Regional Minister in the interim pending the conclusion of the investigation.”

The NADMO workers have reportedly welcomed the suspension of the Minister for which reason they soften their stance on the matter by calling off the strike.

The offices of NADMO in the region, according to sources were all busy Friday morning as staff returned to post.
