A 21 year old student, Hayford Tuboni is battling for his life and education after escaping death when he was allegedly shot by Fulani herdsmen at Atarikan, a suburb of Hweehwee in the Kwahu East District of Eastern Region.
According to him the incident occurred on January 13, 2017 when news broke that, fulani herdsmen were destroying their farm products.
Speaking to Agoo/Kasapa/Abusua fm news desk, he told Ebenezer Kojo Nyavor (K-Lover) the youth in the area rushed to the farm after his grandfather had announced to them the happenings [in the farm] by the herdsmen but they (youth) were attacked brutally with guns.
Following the gunshots, almost everyone left the farm when he was affected by a bullet, adding that he laid down on the ground for sometimes until the herdsmen had left.
According to him, he started calling for help and the residents came to rescue him and rushed him to the hospital.
He said his life is at risk, the reason being that, his parents could not afford to finance the hospital bill and as a result he’s struggling to survive at home, adding that the only support he had was a GHC1, 000 received from the Honorable Member of Parliament for Abetifi constituency Bryan Acheampong when the incident occurred last year.
EDUCATION
He expressed concern over his inability to continue his education following his completion of Junior High School. According to Hayford it has been difficult raising money to see him through senior High School.
He therefore appealed to individuals to come to his aid in support of his health and education.
The Fulani menace which has been in existence for a decade, worsened last year following several clashes between indigenes and Fulani herdsmen claiming the lives of several people (both residents and herdsmen).
