State Attorneys in the Volta Region are forced to make personal contributions to finance urgent administrative work at the Attorney General’s Department in the HO, the regional capital.

The Regional Head, Senior State Attorney Simon Adatsi made this known when the Attorney General, Gloria Akuffo undertook a familiarization tour to the Volta Region’s Attorney General’s Department.

“Funds for running the office was quiet regular when the Controller and Accountant General sends monies quarterly. However Since the Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) reared its ugly head, monies for running the office has become a nightmare to say the least. Not only are monies meant to run the office are paltry and insufficient, they’re delayed for very long periods, sometimes running into years. This makes running of the office very difficult to the extent that staff as well as the Regional Head have to make monitory contributions some of the times to take care of urgent needs of the office, while awaiting funds from the almighty GIFMIS.”

On her part, Attorney General, Gloria Akuffo advised the office on time for early disbursement.

“Although you’re under my supervision, I don’t disburse that budget, we work together but separate budgets are presented and the disbursement is outside of the Attorney General’s Department. I urge you to also submit similar reports through your headquarters so that when it comes to the budget although we’re together your needs will also be reflected. Whatever I’ve said should not only go to for Attorney General’s Department.”
