Afosu nurses and midwifery training college (a private college) will soon be operated under the leadership of Methodist University College and as a result students will benefit from government allowances to public nursing trainees.
This was revealed during a matriculation ceremony to welcome new students and the school first graduation ceremony at the school premises on Friday 23rd March 2018.
The program which was chaired by the chief of Afosu, Nana Amoh Kofi Owusu brought together a number of people from different places.
Addressing Chiefs, students including new, old and outgoing students, parents, residents and the media proprietor of Afosu nurses and midwifery college Nana Kwadwo Attefua expressed gratitude over the new development for the school to be taken over by the Methodist university college.
‘’…by God willing the Methodist university is taking over this school to run it as one of their universities, plans have far advanced and I’m very optimist that all will be set to take over effective by May this year.’’ He revealed.
He therefore assured all workers of the college that, per the agreement between the Methodist University College and Afosu Nurses and Midwifery College, will make sure nobody loses his or her job.
Urging the matriculants to take their studies serious, he was quick to add that, the school has a zero tolerance for indiscipline and has no plans to change it saying if you want to make it through the school, change your ways and adapt to the school principles.
Speaking on Agoo fm’s evening news analysis program with sit-in-host Asonaba Kwadwo Nomafo, he was optimistic the new development will add more value to the college creating a better and a unique atmosphere.
An emissary of the presiding bishop of the Methodist University College Dr. K Sagoe at the ceremony said the Methodist church as known in spreading the gospel and winning souls for Christ has been involved in the business of transforming lives and society through their initiative in education, health delivery, social justice and transformation.
He added the Methodist church has the reputation of funding and running some of the best educational institutions in this country.
Dr. K Sagoe said the there is currently a discussions with Nana Kwadwo Attefua to partner him in running Afosu Nurses and Midwifery college under the Christian health association of Ghana umbrella saying the benefit of the Methodist Ghana taking over the college are many including infrastructure support from government, learning materials and also technical assistant.

Over two hundred (200) matriculants did not hesitate to express their satisfactory when Dr. K Sagoe announced the college will now benefit from the trainee allowances of the nursing or midwifery training school adding students will also be admitted through the ministry of health admission process.
