A 90 year old man Nai Kofi Ashiao aka Shabi has been set ablaze at Awutu Oshimpo number one in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region by some unknown assailants.
The barbaric incident occurred around 12am Thursday. It is believed the incident is related to a long standing land litigation.
According to journalist Benjamin Amuzu who has visited the area, the assailants reportedly drenched the outside of the room of the deceased and torched him in such sadistic manner.
Fire Service personnel were quickly called in to save the burning old man, but unfortunately the could not.
The Police were called in following which the body of the deceased was carried to the morgue.
Meanwhile Awutu Breku District police Commander ASP Johnson Hessey has confirmed the arrest of one person in connection with the murder after the car that conveyed the assailants to the crime scene was identified.
