The Office of the National Chief Imam has called on government and the Muslim community to help broaden the scope of socio-economic opportunities for their youth.

Spokesperson Sheikh Shaibu Aremeyaw says Muslim youth can be more useful if they are guaranteed the necessary help.

His comment follows the harrowing story of one Nazir Nortei Alema named among some 10 suspected youth who are said to have joined terrorist group ISIS).

“The trouble we have is that these are well educated people who are being lured into such things,” he noted.

According to him, it’s imperative for the Muslim community and parents in general to work towards a decent community of young people ready to pursue career goals.
