Agoo Magazine, Ghana’s first social media platform has been serving us with great, fashionable and entertaining features since 2001. Now, the lifestyle magazine has had a makeover – it has gone bigger and better to keep readers more entertained and engaged.
For the past 17 years, Agoo Magazine has been the go to source for most who wanted to know what people were up to, when, where and with whom. It featured glamourous weddings, grand parties and other notable events. Undoubtedly, Agoo Magazine is still a force to be reckoned with.
The latest April issue, which unveils its new look, hosts award-winning actress Yvonne Nelson and her baby Ryn on its cover.
This bold step to further elevate the magazine to being among the best on the continent is the initiative of Michael Mensa-Bonsu, who takes over as publisher from Kojo Bonsu, the founder of Agoo Magazine.
Speaking about the transition and new direction, Michael says: “We want to reposition ourselves as a Pan African publication. You will notice that we have already started with the changes by revamping the layout and including more diverse content.”
What Michael says is apparent in the addition of new segments such as Agoo Business, which features Vodafone Ghana’s CEO Yolanda Cuba and a new column “Corner Couch”, which addresses socio-cultural issues. However, the avid long-time reader of Agoo Magazine need not despair, as it still retains interesting happenings in and around town and latest fashion trends.
Michael believes in the “Africa Now” movement and is using his influence including Agoo Magazine to tell African stories to the world. “It’s time we tell our stories ourselves for our people and the world, the global stage is ready for an African narrative and Agoo Magazine is ready to spearhead this agenda”.
