The leadership of the National Health Students’ Association of Ghana (NAHSAG) has served notice of its planned demonstration on Monday, 7 May 2018 over what the association describes as ‘modern day slavery’ policy, vis a vis the Heal Ghana module of the Nation Builders Corps (NaBCO) initiative.

The Association said the programme cannot serve their interest as professionals urging the various health unions to join the mass action as they fight the Heal Ghana module of the Nation Builders Corps (NaBCO) initiative.

The group is opposing attempts by government to enroll it members because, according to them, there are clear indications government will slow down any process of working out their financial clearance, following the roll-out of the NABCO programme.

A leader of the Group, Richard Osei-Yeboah told host Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM that it will affect service delivery in the health sector, as a result of the imminent disparity in the conditions of service between NABco nurses and regular staff.

“The unemployed health personnel need financial clearance and posting, and not a three (3) year employment contract that will further compound the challenges at the sector,” he stressed on Kasapa on Thursday, 3 May 2018.

He urged members to remain calm and be prepared towards the intended march on Monday as they register their displeasure with the Heal Ghana module  co-opted onto the NABCO initiative, and also present a petition to the Vice president of the republic of Ghana.

The demonstration will start at the Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange and proceed through the principal streets of Accra and end at Accra Hearts of Oak Park, a release by the coalition said.
