The Minister of the Interior has on the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument renewed the Curfew hours on the Bunkpurugu Township from 4.00pm to 6:00am effective August 28,

In view of the District Level Elections, the curfew hours for only Tuesday 1st September 2015 will be observed from 7:00pm to 6:00am.

A statement signed by Interior Minister Mark Woyongo said government would continue to urge chiefs, opinion leaders, youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.

For now, there is a total ban on all persons in the Bunkpurugu Township and surrounding areas from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon as any person found with any arms or ammunition would be arrested and prosecuted.

Meanwhile, the curfew hours imposed on Nankpanduri Township has also been renewed.

Other towns which would be affected by the curfew, which starts at 10:00pm to 4:00am effective Friday 28th August, include Kpatinga, Bonbila, Borgni, Boatarrigu and Sakogu communities.

Bimbila is also having its fair share of the renewal of curfews; the period is from 4:00pm to 6:00am effective Friday 28th August 2015.

In view of the District Level Elections, the Curfew hours for only Tuesday, September 1 and would be observed from 7:00pm to 6:00am.

While the curfew on Alavanyo and Nkonya Townships has been renewed.The period is from 6:00pm to 6:00am effective Friday August, 28.
