A key member of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho, says recent happenings at football governing body FIFA, should lead lead to investigations into the operations of the Ghana Football Association.
FIFA has been rocked with claims of corruption that has resulted in the arrest of a number of its high profile executives, and this Anhyidoho, a onetime radio sports analyst say is an indication the GFA’s “time is up”.
“Slowly, we are getting there. Now the mother body you belong to has been exposed, that should tell you your days are numbered,” he told host of Kasapa FM‘s morning show Fiifi Banson.
Anyidoho, who has been very critical of the GFA’s handling of the local game told Banson FIFA operates a tightly-kept cabal, which he GFA somehow was part, and wondered if they can claim to be corruption-free.
“It’s a cabal.
“Look at what they’ve done to our local game; everything is gone. All they care about now is how they can get the Black Stars to the World Cup.
“And because they realize Ghanaians are emotionally attached to football, they use that against us and get our with a lot of things.”
Anyidoho, whose time with the late President Atta Mills saw him visit the FIFA headquarters said the GFA’s often trumpeted caveat of “you can’t investigate us” is the very reason “they think they are above reproach”.
“FIFA’s doesn’t support this. FIFA is only against the state interfering with the game, and not allowing the laws of the land to work.”
