Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has dismissed allegation of bribery and fraud against his protege, ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
One Mohammed Hafiz Damanaa speaking on Net 2 Television accused Anas of demanding from him an amount of $50,000 in order to conceal evidence in a criminal case in 2009.
Maverick politician and MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong had earlier made similar accusations against Anas and assured to support his claims with evidence.
The Legislator is on a crusade to discredit Anas following his latest investigative mastery on the thriving rot in Ghana’s football. He has been on a collision course with the undercover journalist over his modus operandi.
However speaking on News File on Joy FM Saturday, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako stated that the claims are false and must be treated with the contempt that it derserves.
“I’m told that he’s[Ken Agyapong] put somebody on air on his station, Net 2 TV, he’s supposed to be called Hafiz Mohammed. I’m told the gentleman came talking about Anas taking money from him and all those things. Then I remembered, this gentleman, Hafiz was a subject of investigation by New Crusading Guide Newspaper in 2009 and that investigations was led by Anas. It was in a $5.7 million gold scam and Anas’ investigative team collaborated with the police and went to the gentleman’s house and it became a running battle with this gentleman and the Newspaper.
“Eventually the police took this gentleman to court and the Judge that presided over that trial was Justice Quist, I don’t know if the name rings a bell. Then something went on in court and then everything was ‘basaaa’. But that was the begging of the decision to put Justice Quist on the radar. Eventually, 2015-16 Justice Quist was busted by Tiger Eye PI. It is a lie that Anas took a bribe to shelve the story.”
Anas’s latest investigative work which is set to be premiered on 6th June focuses on football and politics.
