A Cameroon film maker, Nkanya Nkwai and his colleagues, bagged six awards at the event with his movie ‘A Good Time to Divorce.’

The movie talks about how a husband got ‘dumbed’ by his wife and ended up separating their two children (a boy and a girl). The son then became recalcitrant because of lack of good parental guidance. The movie wowed most people by taking six major awards.

The Golden Movie Awards Africawas held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra over the weekendto honor film makers from several African countries like Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Uganda and Ivory Coast.

Many popular actors and actresses like Veteran Actor Fred Amugi, Jackie Appiah, Salma Mumuni, Multiple Award Film Actress and Director, Shirley Frimpong-Manso, Kafui Danklu, Nana Ama McBrown, Lydia Forson, Kofi Adjorlolo and others also graced the event.

The blissful night was hosted by Nigerian Comedian and Actor, AY and Ghana’s Finest Actress and TV host, Joselyn Dumas as the red carpet was also hosted by one of the most-talked-about celebrity recently, Moesha Boduong.

The lead character of ‘A Good Day to Divorce’ Alenne Menget who was present at the event couldn’t hide his sentiments. He expressed, “We came here to win and we have won. You should automatically put us on the map of movies in Africa because we are a force to reckon with. We have taken the time to brand and rebrand. We have won it to be integrated into, we have won for peace” as he took several awards on stage.

The event also witnessed musical performances from artists like Edem, Adina and others.
