The Managing Editor of the Punch newspaper, Ebenezer Ato Sam says the flagbearer of the major opposition party  Akufo-Addo’s seeming posture of covering up the corruption scandal within his party shows that the NPP is compromising on its integrity.

“Those who are rather campaigning for accountability and transparency within the NPP, are the ones being hounded out. You say that Nana Addo is incorruptible, if indeed he is, why is he not supporting the ongoing campaign within the NPP to ensure that bad elements are smoked out , but rather he wants to cover up.

“The source who gave me the information said Nana Addo wants to cover up, and we’ve noticed that all what he’s saying is true, judging by what is going on within the party.”

He says such behaviour does not portray seriousness of a party that is keen on taking over the affairs of government in the near future.

Baby Ansaba as known in the public light emphasized that the NPP, a major opposition party which has a better chance of being replaced as the next government ‘cannot preach virtues and practice vice,’ hence the party must come clean by dealing with the internal corruption issues hovering in the party.

Speaking on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM on the alleged malfeasance and corruption that has hit the party, Baby Ansaba said he’s compiled all the signatories that have withdrawn monies from the said controversial “secret NPP account”, which he’s prepared to publish shortly.

“Our stories will come no matter how long it takes, it will come. I promised this week to bring out details of the withdrawal that the NPP has made so far in the account. We have actually mounted the story already, and we’ll publish it in due time.

The NPP’s NationalTreasurer, Abankwa Yeboah  together with the 1st Vice Chairman of the party, Freddie Blay have been accused of allegedly diverting party funds into an Ecobank secret account on the blind side of both the Party’s Chairman and the General Secretary.

Per the reported scandal in the NPP, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyepong, has been invited for questioning by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service over the matter.

Agyepong’s colleague, Mr. Paul Afoko, who was also invited in connection to the said case, this website understands, has honoured the invitation and written his statement to that effect.
