The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party has assured the people of Ghana that when given the mandate to serve in January 2017, he will focus solely on the improving on the well being of Ghanaians and will not line his pockets with the people’s money.
Addressing the Chiefs of Dambai on Friday, September 4, 2015, prior to a meeting with constituency executives and NPP parliamentary aspirants, both winners and losers, Nana Akufo-Addo stated that “I won’t steal your money because I am not a thief. I know fully well the dangerous implications of corruption on the fortunes of any country, and my track record in public service and in my private life should assure you that it is not at this time that I want to get involved in corrupt acts.”
The NPP flagbearer appealed to the Chiefs, who he said do not engage in politics but vote, and the people of Northern Volta to “try the NPP in 2016 because I am motivated by only one thing, which is to make a big contribution to changing the way we do things to improve the lives of people.”
He continued, “I am not in politics to put money in my pocket, that is not why I am in politics. We are coming into power to help develop this beautiful land. We are entitled to be a prosperous nation, not a poor country.”
The Chief of Dambai, Nana Beyenor II, thanked the NPP leader for the respect accorded him and his sub-chiefs. He was confident that the internal problems confronting the NPP at this time is a clear indication that joyous moments are in the offing for the party ahead of the 2016 election.
Nana OdameGyamfi, the Asukorhene, in his brief remarks to Nana Akufo-Addo, assured him that “in 2016, I can assure you that there will be changes in the voting patterns in Northern Volta. The people of Northern Volta will not disappoint the NPP in 2016. The perception that this region is some other party’s ‘World Bank’ will be dispelled come 2016. The people of the Volta Region are only interested in development and will no longer be used as pawns in elections.”
