Northern Regional Coordinating Council has lifted the ban on entertainment activities at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
Tamale Mayor, Musah Superior banned all concerts at the stadium after some fans of popular musician Fancy Gadam died in a road accident ahead of a concert at the facility.
“Following various representations made by the Regional Security Council to intervene in the matter of the recent banning of entertainment activities at the Aliu Mahama stadium, the Council has consulted the Metropolitan Chief Executive for Tamale on the issue. The Regional Security Council after an exhaustive consideration has decided to lift the ban that was placed, while it allows the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly as the body responsible for regulating entertainment activities in the metropolis to come out with strict procedures to guide such activities and related matters at the stadium and other public places.
“The conduct of any entertainment related activities in the metropolis requires the approval of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly to regulate such activities in line with their by-laws,” portions of the statement released by the Regional Security Council read.
