A former Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies(UPSA), Professor Joshua Alabi has informed his party leadership(NDC) of his decision to contest for the Flagbearership slot of the party in the 2020 polls.

Prof. Alabi is the second to formally inform the party about his candidature after former NHIA Boss, Sylvester Mensah.

He’s thus vowed to run a decorous campaign ahead of the polls set for September this year.

A member of his campaign team, Victor Kojogah Adawudu who spoke to the media after presenting a letter on behalf of the Flagbearer hopeful said they’ll play by the rules of the game.

” The campaign will be very civil, devoid of acrimony; this a family together  and we promise that we will not get into insults, invectives, because at the end of the day is the same NDC family that we are, our opponents are not the other contestants. In the arena of competition, where its expanded, its good, its healthy, its good for our branches, its good for the constituency, we go in and have social contract with them…”

Meanwhile, former first Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ken Dzirasah together with NDC, Stalwart, Ambassador Philip Gbeho have jointly thrown their weight behind the candidature of Prof. Alabi in the 2020 challenge.

They contend Mr. Alabi stands a better chance of wrestling political power from the NPP than other aspiring candidates.

The party in a press conference on Thursday, addressed by the general Secretary, Johnson Aseidu Nketia also known as “General Mosquito” announced that it has opened nominations for persons seeking to contest the flagbearership slot of the party ahead of the 2020 elections.
