George Boateng, the man aspiring to contest President John Mahama for the 2016 NDC presidential seat, has gone to the Psychiatric Hospital in Pantang to be examined.

The move is on the back of an advice given him by General Secretary of the Party, Asiedu Nketia, for him to be mentally checked as his quest to contest the sitting president was abnormal.

A challenge Boateng accepted, he went to the facility Monday to get it done.

This morning, he told Kasapa 102.3 FM that he is subjecting himself to a thorough psychiatric examination, after which he will pick another Presidential nomination form later in the day.

According to him, he has picked intelligence that national executives of the party who are bent on ensuring President Mahama contests unopposed, want to mischievously claim he is mentally unstable in their bid to disqualify him from the flag bearer race.

Boateng an NDC organizer at the Oyarifa branch in the Madina constituency has been described by senior members of the NDC party including the General Secretary Johnson and the Majority Leader Asiedu Nketiah and Alban Bagbin respectively as an insane and needs a mental check up.

The President’s challenger purchased his Presidential nomination forms at the party’s Headquarters last Monday but the party led by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah swiftly claimed that the form sold out to him was actually a draft and not the original form.

The administrative officers who issued the forms to Mr Boateng have been sacked by the party insisting they had no mandate to sell any such forms, as it was only the General Secretary who has that power per the party’s constitution. George Boateng has been asked to come for the right forms.

However George Boateng has told Kasapa FM, that he suspects a grand scheme by the party national executive is being put together to push him out of the contest, a move he has vowed to resist.

“I have information that Asiedu Nketiah and the rest want to disqualify me on the basis that I’m mentally sick and I will never allow that to happen. So to ensure that they don’t use that against me, I have decided to go for a test at the Pantang Hospital by 10am sharp today. The media can follow me and cover the event as I want the public to be witnesses. I’m confident that the doctor after examining me will give me the clearance. After that is done, I’ll move straight to the headquarters for another form”.
