Entertainment critic, Mel Kwesi Davis has disclosed that most artiste managers do the unthinkable by visiting Mallams, fetish priests and other spiritualists just to make their artistes succeed in the music industry.
Speaking as a regular pundit on Kasapa Fm’s Kasapa Entertainment hosted by Kojo Preko Dankwa, Davis revealed that for about two years he was not on good talking terms with his mother because of one popular artiste he managed.
Discussing challenges artiste managers go through to make sure their clients become successful, Mel Davis confessed he once had to go through a ritual bath just because his artiste believed in the spiritualist and could not want to let his musician down.
According to him, artiste managers sacrifice so much but their artistes disregard their support to the brand.
“I had to travel with my artiste to Brong Ahafo for spiritual fortification by a spiritualist, something my artistes believed in so much so I couldn’t let him down but to go with him on the journey.
“We sometimes sacrifice to the extent of visiting Fetish priests and other spiritualists just to have a successful career for our artistes.
“Artiste management is a difficult work. I’ve seen an artiste manager who sacrificed everything including his own family but he never gave up till the artiste become very successful.” Mel Davis told Kojo Preko Dankwa
