Otumfuo Osei Tutu II of the Ashanti kingdom will today embark on a historic return visit to the Ofori Panin Fie to meet the Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin.

The almost dreamlike encounter between the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Okyenhene manifested as the two powerful leaders met earlier in a historic courtesy paid by the latter in June at the Manhyia palace.

The gesture explored the level of silent cordiality that had existed among the two chiefs and their subjects.

The Ashanti Monarch will be the special guest of honour at a grand durbar marking the 75th anniversary of the late Okyenhene, Sir  Ofori Atta. The Okyenhene is the host of the event.

Preparations ongoing for the grand durbar

There has been some sort of long standing aggression between the two monarchs following the ancestral wars fought between their forefathers in colonial Ghana.

But it is expected that the gesture today will be a mechanism of healing one of the oldest open chieftaincy sores in history in the Akan ethnic setup.
