Information gathered by Agoo News indicates that, two market women were arrested at Donkorkrom following ban on sale of puffer fish after two members of same family died five days ago.

The arrest were made early this morning when officials in the district led by the Assemblyman for the area Hon Yaw Vidzei together with police, Environmental Officer Mr. Joseph Kweku, District NADMO Cordinator Mr. Nyarko and other stakeholders during a follow up exercise after the assembly placed ban on the sale of puffer fish.

Hon Yaw Vidzei in an interview with Ebenezer Kojo Nyavor revealed the two, Adama Kotokoli 55, and the other named as Akos, 45yrs, were immediately arraigned before Donkorkrom magistrate court but the judge, upon their age set them free to serve as warning and deterrent to others.

According to the Assemblyman, the two were seen selling the puffer fish mixed with other fish but through their experience and knowledge, it was easy to identify them.

Over the weekend, two persons were confirmed dead after consuming some poisonous puffer fish in the area.

Health officials investigating the matter say the fish was bought from a market in a local market and used in preparing fufu for a family of six.
