A Political Science Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kwasi Amakye Boateng says the litigation in the major opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is taking a centre stage because the structures in the party are broken.

He revealed that the troubles won’t recede in the Dankwa-Busia-Dombo tradition since the informal structure has taken over the party’s laid down structure, a situation he contends has ultimately created confusions in the NPP.

“We are dealing with litigants; people who will not let it go. They are so powerful and they will not change their minds,” he disclosed in an interview with Accra-based radio xyz.

He said there are orchestrated moves by people surrounding the flagbearer to sideline Afoko/Agyepong, fueling the rumours that the two are bent on sabotaging the campaign of Akufo-Addo in the upcoming 2016 elections.

According to him, the complex nature of the NPP internal feud has culminated in the authority of the two national executives, Afoko/Agyepong fading away easily.

He said it is obvious that the push by Gabby’s Asare Otchere Darko, who is a close associate of Nana-Addo to go ahead with his campaign without the inclusion of the two national executives is coming to pass on account of current developments witnessed so far.

The NPP appears disconcerted as it had for some months now been the center of controversy among all the political parties in the country as a result of what is turning out to be mistrust among its national executives.
