Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui has told Lionel Messi not to doubt his club’s squad.

This was after Messi said the Los Blancos are “less good” since Cristiano Ronaldo left the club joining Italian side Juventus. The Barcelona star told Catalunya Radio on Monday night that Madrid was not good since he left but Lopetegui has told the Argentine that he is unwise to doubt Madrid.

“I wouldn’t doubt these Real Madrid players for a second,” said Lopetegui in an interview with El Transistor.

Disregard of Messi? “I’m not going to catalog what you could say, I did not know anything. I insist: who knows the players of Real Madrid

“I didn’t speak to [Ronaldo]. It’s a situation that when I arrived, he had shown a desire to leave and the club facilitated it. I respected it and the strategy was taken,” he added that he never spoke to the Portuguese prior to his exit.

And Lopetegui was also adamant that he had no regrets about his choice to manage Real Madrid even though it cost him his job as Spain coach right before the start of the World Cup in Russia.
