Mr. Martin Amidu that I know is not the same as the Martin Amidu appointed to head the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP).
I know one Mr. Martin Amidu who always fights corrupt people including friends and party members.
I am struggling to get answers to the following questions.
1. Where is that Mr. Martin Amidu I am talking about?
2. Did the President appoint a wrong Mr. Martin Amidu to head the office of Special Prosecutor?
3. What is stopping Special Prosecutor to ‘bite’ corrupt people in the country.
I will be happy to get answers to the above questions.
Ahead of the 2016 general elections, I spoke to a section of Ghanaians and they told me they will vote for NPP because of the office of Special Prosecutor in their manifesto.
I was happy when I heard about the setting up of the office of the Special Prosecutor because corruption has become a major challenge affecting the growth and development of this country.
On January 2018, the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo appointed Mr. Martin Amidu as Special Prosecutor with the aim of dealing with corrupt people without fear or favour.
This is what the President told Ghanaians about Mr Martin Amidu
“Mr. Amidu has the requisite integrity and independence of character to occupy such challenging office. I have done so because I am fully convinced that Mr. Martin Amidu, a prominent legal personality who held the high office of the Attorney General of the Republic in the government of the late President John Evans Atta Mills has the requisite integrity, competence, courage and independence of character to discharge effectively the responsibilities of this office.”
Mr. Martin Amidu before his appointment was fighting with Mr. Wayome in court to retrieve Ghanaians money from Wayome.
Before I continue, I have these questions for Mr. Martin Amidu.
1. What is preventing you (Mr Martin Amidu) to start biting corrupt people especially government officials?
2. How many cases are in court so far and how many cases are your office investigating so far?
3. What support do you need from Ghanaians and government as far as dealing with corrupt people is concerned.
I will not ask about Office because Mr Martin Amidu told Ghanaians that his office is ready.
So many corruption allegations have been raised this year and it seems Special Prosecutor Mr Martin Amidu is quite.
Instead of Mr. Martin Amidu to account to Ghanaians why it was necessary for the President to spend taxpayers money to establish the office of Special Prosecutor, Mr Amidu is telling us about strange money hitting his bank accounts?
“Strange’ money hitting my account – Martin Amidu”
Mr Martin Amidu, I must say Ghanaians don’t care about strange money hitting your accounts but Ghanaians expect you to deliver.
Mr Martin Amidu I know you to be a honest man, if the work is difficult for you resign or tell Ghanaians why Prosecution is delaying.
