The National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, says despite the numerous attacks on John Dramani Mahama, the persona of the former Ghanaian Leader still remains intact and is the sure bet for salvaging Ghanaians from the shackles of economic bondage, come 2020.
Likening Mahama to that of Coca Cola, Adams said irrespective of whatever approach people may use to dent the brand image of JDM (John Dramani Mahama), he (Mahama) will weather the storm and come out much stronger than never before to win the 2020 general elections for Ghanaians.
“Mahama’s brand is like the drink called CocaCola. So many drinks have come up in the beverage industry and have tried initiating so many adverts to downplay the influence of CocaCola but to no avail. Mahama is as solid as rock. If you try to push him with your hand, you will definitely hurt yourself. You can’t break him down”.
“They have tried this so much to destroy him but will not succeed. Let them continue on this tangent and wait for the elections day to see their smoothness level. I am sure that the voting public in their right senses and wisdom will come out and go and vote massively for John Dramani Mahama and they will hand over the administration of this country to Mahama for him to come and continue the good works that brought relief to market women in Okaishie, Abosay Okai spare parts dealers among others”, he noted.
Adams who was the National Coordinator for John Dramani Mahama during the 2016 electioneering campaign made this observation when interacting with Accra-based Okay FM, Monday, September 17, 2018.
He was responding to some issues raised by the Center for National Affairs (CAN) regarding their petition to the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, to initiate criminal investigations into alleged illegal payments at the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) to the previous John Dramani Mahama administration.
The CAN, according to a publication by the Daily Guide’s newspaper, in a letter signed by its Executive Director, Samuel Odame Lartey, said it has gathered evidence that a whopping GH₵4O.5million was transferred from BOST to the presidency under John Dramani.
They claimed the recipient’s account was Chief of Staff’s Sundries Account No. 1, with account number 1018631473188 at the Bank of Ghana (BoG), and the alleged illegal transfers were done from August 2015 until early January 2017 when then ruling NDC handed over to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after the December 7, 2016 general elections.
Adams who was a Board Member at BOST during that period said all the decisions BOST implemented were sanctioned by the Board and therefore sees no wrongdoing by the state-owned oil firm.
“BOST as part of its corporate responsibility activities – they approached us about the fueling of security vehicles. We looked through the initiatives and came to a conclusion that it was a good course worth pursuing since it will help all of us. Once the Board decides, they [BOST] can venture into any activity. We couldn’t have sat down as a country as having challenges with security issues without intervening. This one was in support of security operations. The Board took the decision for the MD, Awuah Darko, to implement”, he explained.
According to him, the NPP has tried so many times to damage the reputation of Mr. Mahama with all kinds of allegations all to no avail, believing that what CNA has started will also hit the rocks.
