Two members believed to have had a hand in the violent disruption that rocked a meeting between the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tafo-Pankrono, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei and his constituents, have been arrested by the police in the Ashanti Region.

The duo identified as Paul Atta Onyinah, 49, and Richard Yaw Brefo, 51, according to sources, were arrested at Tafo-Pankrono, Tuesday, afternoon.

They are believed to be members of the pro-NPP vigilante group, Delta Force.

They are currently in police custody and have since been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and rioting.

On Sunday, October 7, 2018, some youth and members of the Delta Force, a pro vigilante group of the elephant family, stormed the venue of a meeting between the MP and his constituents and in the process, disrupted the program.

The angry youth and members of the Delta Force numbering about 800 claimed they had gone to the venue to tell the MP their piece of mind after allegedly neglecting them after the 2016 general elections.

They claimed the MP promised them jobs in security agencies even if they don’t have any educational certificate.

But one year and eight months after being sworn into power, none of the people who worked as security guards and protected the ballot box have been offered any employment opportunity.

The leader of the group, Musa Tasuri, aka Fallacy, told Accra-based Okay FM, Monday, that the neglect by the MP for the area was becoming unbearable and therefore decided to storm the venue of the said meeting to “tell him our piece of mind”.

But the National Organizer of the NPP, Sammy Awuku in a statement issued in Accra, Tuesday, October 9, 2018, condemned the action of the group, noting that it was at variance with the laws of the land.

“The New Patriotic Party (NPP) strongly condemns the violent disruption of a meeting between the Member of Parliament for Tafo-Pankrono, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei and his constituents on Sunday, October 7, 2018. The action of the young men is highly unacceptable, unjustifiable and unfortunate regardless of their reasons. The use of force and violence, particularly, in internal party matters, is alien to the tenets of the New Patriotic Party and should have no place among us, especially under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who has been a strong advocate of the rule of law”, he noted.

He added “We call on the security agencies to deal decisively with this case without fear or favour”.

The NPP, Awuku noted, is putting in measures to ensure that such acts of violence are nipped in the bud in the party’s activities.

He then cautioned any group or person who might be harbouring any of such violent intentions to desist from it since the party will not tolerate such behavior.

Awuku further entreated members and supporters of the NPP to at all times, resort to laid down internal structures and procedures in seeking redress for their grievances and concerns.
