Former President John Mahama is questioning why the Upper West Regional Hospital has been left when the project is 95% complete.

The Upper West Regional Minister Alhassan Sulemana in May said the 160 bed capacity new Regional Hospital will be handed over in September.

Addressing NDC delegates at Wecheaw in Wa in the Upper West Region ex President John Mahama faulted the Akufo Addo administration for delay in completing and operationalizing the health facility.

“We were building CHPS Compounds in various communities, we were building District Hospitals, we were building the Upper West Regional Hospital, brand new hospital so that if there are any referrals from the CHPS compound or the small polyclinics then they’ll go to the Regional Hospital and all the medical equipment and personnel will be there to treat them without having to travel to Tamale, Kumasi or Accra. That was the intention, that hospital is 95% complete, the equipment is laying there.

He added: “What is easier, somebody has reached 95% put the equipment there. Just finish it and put your plaque and say commissioned by so so, that one to you can’t do?”
