The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended filing of nomination forms for its upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary primaries in the Ashanti Region by one more week.

The decision is to afford the region to make amends with time during its recently held biometric registration exercise in the region that delayed for one week, Kasapafmonline.com has learnt.

A deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho, in an interview with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Thursday said the extension to the Ashanti Region was to ensure fairness.

“In Ashanti Region, we have extended filing of nomination to one more week. During the biometric registration, their exercise delayed by one week. So, if we want to be fair, we must give them one more week. That is why we have extended the time,” he noted.

The NDC goes to the polls on November 7, 2015, to decide on Presidential and Parliamentary candidates for the 2016 general elections.

Filing of nomination forms closes on Thursday at 17:00GMT having opened it on August 27, 2015.
