A former President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Mr. Sam Okudzeto says the quality of Judges being churned out is declining, insisting the trend is dictated by a root cause of making money at all cost than to remain professional.

Commenting on the  latest corruption exposé of the Judiciary by the Tiger Eye Investigative Team on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM, the former GBA President  said he’s not surprised the system is overwhelmed with corrupt Judges because he realized that right from Law School, some students he taught in the past were just interested in passing exams and step out to chase for money.

“There is so much greed at every level that is also creeping into the sacred institution. Young guys want to be rich overnight. I teach Ethics at the Law School and clearly you can see they’re interested to pass exams and go out and make money.”

Following the Anas’ exposé, twenty-two judges and magistrates who were cited in the latest corruption scandal have been suspended by the Judicial Council.

The process of determining whether there is a prima facie case against 12 High Court Judges has also been initiated by the Lady Chief Justice, Theodora Georgina Wood.

The decision was taken after the Chief Justice and the Judicial Council examined the video evidence of malfeasance brought against the judges by Anas.
