The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Wednesday, launched the Nations Builders Corps (NABCO) Program and expressed the belief that with the measures put in place, he has no doubt that the initiative will be a success.

“With NABCO, we’re planting the seeds of growth of the future of our country. I am in no doubt or whatsoever, that NABCO will succeed”, he noted to the applause of the gathering.

A total of 100,000 NABCO trainees have been recruited and will be deployed to seven critical aspects of the economy – education, revenue mobilization, agriculture, health, governance, digitization and the private sector.

These personnel who are holders of Diploma and Degree Certificates will assist in the realization of Government’s vision of an educated population, industrialized, robust, and well-managed economy for the delivery of good governance.

The trainees, according to the President, will also be engaged in a structured work and learning program environment.

“For every four weeks of work, one week will be dedicated to acquiring some future employability and work readiness skills. Within three years, NABCO trainees would have obtained 36 weeks of solid training and value addition that will enable them transition smoothly into the world of permanent work”, he said.

To ensure the success implementation of the program, he said managers of NABCO have struck out a partnership deal with the Council of Vocational Education and Training (COVET) and some universities both domestic and foreign for the validation and contract of the learning program so that the trainees receive appropriate certification of their skills and training for their deployment into the Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana Education Service, Ghana Health Service, Information Services Department, Local Government Service, Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications, The Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Ministry of Trade & Industry.

“The exit pathway is designed to focus on education. The University of Education, Winneba and the University of Cape Coast are to provide academic support to train the many NABCO personnel with Diploma in Basic Education. This will provide them with certificates and guarantee careers in early childhood care and development sector”.

He admonished the NABCO trainees to be beautiful and productive in the areas they have been assigned and and as well demonstrate on daily basis that they value knowledge which is the basis for effective performance and productivity.
