The Western Regional Police Command has intercepted 92 bales of the banned substances suspected to be Indian Hemp, in what it says is the biggest seizure.

According to the Regional Public Relations Officer of the Police Command, DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, 5 occupants in a DAF truck attempted bolting when they were stooped at the Apremudo Barrier for a routine snap check.

Three of the 5 who are now in the grips of the police were arrested with the help of some civilians.

Upon interrogation and further search of the truck they found about 92 bales of dried leaves compressed into tablets hidden under other goods.

They hinted that the truck was moving from Accra to the Nzema area and that it was the driver and another suspect who are now at large that packed the dry leaves into the truck.

DSP Olivia Adiku is thus urging police officers at the barriers to up their game and be more vigilant to help uncover more of such illicit transportation and importation of contraband goods.
