President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has urged the Ministry of Trade and Industry and officials of the Nissan Group of Africa to ensure that the details of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that has been signed by the parties get executed to pave way for the Japanese Automobile giant to establish an assembling plant in Ghana to serve the West African Market and beyond.
The President made the call when officials of Nissan Group of Africa led by their Managing Director, Mike Whitefield, called on him at the Presidency ahead of the signing of the MOU. Ghana’s Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyremanteng, signed the MOU on behalf of government and Mike Whitefield, leader of the Nissan officials signed same on behalf of Nissan.
The President in his address said the stability in Ghana makes the country the best choice for a multinational automobile company such as Nissan to invest in. Judicial independence and the atmosphere of rule f law prevailing in the country the President said is also a sure reason why the investments decision of Nissan in Ghana is a right choice that has been made. Additionally, the President assured the Nissan officials of professional assistance on the side of Ghanaian officials to make the process of their journey to institutionalize in Ghana a smooth one.

Managing Director of the Nissan Group of Africa, Mike Whitefield, in his remarks said Nissan is excited about the latest step of signing the MOU. He added that Nissan will work as quickly as it can with Ghanaian officials in order to become the first international automobile company to establish full assembling plant operations in Ghana.
